Mohamed Zaghloul attended the University of Cairo where he studied Radiation Oncology at the National Cancer Institute. He was awarded his Master as well as Medical Doctorate in Radiation Oncology and started his career at the National Cancer Institute as a lecturer until he reached full Professor status. He has supervised many academic and clinical theses, and mentored several junior faculty members and residents while also treating patients. In 1987 and 1991, Dr. Zaghloul travelled to the U.S. to work as a fellow at Stanford University in Radiation Oncology. Over the course of his career, Dr. Zaghloul has authored and co‐authored several academic papers and has received two awards for his work, such as the European Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology Award (ESTRO‐Varian Award) in 1985 and the Eleanor Roosevelt American Cancer Society Award in 1991. Additionally, Dr. Zaghloul established the Minia Oncology Centre and later went on to become the Chairman for the Radiation 

Oncology Department at the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Egypt (CCHE) where he continues to serve. Together with his group in CCHE he established most of the advanced radiotherapy techniques eg IMRT, VMAT, DIBH, Breast prone irradiation. He spread these techniques and knowledge to different radiotherapy departments in Egypt and Africa through scientific workshops, hands on & one-to one knowledge transfer. Dr. Zaghloul has published more than 130 international articles and has a close working relationship with the IAEA, as he served as an expert & temporary consultant in many of its worldwide projects.
