The Ministry of Health announces Egypt’s membership in the Global Breast Cancer Alliance
The Ministry of Health and Population announced Egypt’s representation in the Global Breast Cancer Alliance through the election of Dr. Hisham El-Ghazaly, President of the Egyptian Cancer Society and Head of the National Committee for Women’s Health Support, as a member of the Alliance. This took place during the Alliance’s annual conference held in Lisbon, Spain, from November 8th to 11th.
This representation comes in recognition of Egypt’s pioneering achievements in early detection and treatment, supported by presidential initiatives that have garnered international acclaim. The Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health has recorded more than 64.9 million medical visits, in addition to screening 23 million women through 3,700 health units and 12 mobile screening units. It has also provided 120 mammogram machines and upgraded 22 pathology laboratories. These achievements were praised by participating delegations, who considered the Egyptian experience a model to be emulated by resource-limited countries due to its efficiency and integrated services. Commenting on his membership in the alliance, Dr. Hisham El-Ghazaly affirmed that this election reflects Egypt’s commitment to innovation and early detection, which makes a real difference in patients’ lives and reinforces its regional and international leadership in combating breast cancer.
It is worth noting that Dr. Hisham El-Ghazaly participated with a select group of scientists and researchers worldwide in developing international guidelines for the treatment of metastatic breast tumors.
