In an effort to strengthen scientific and research collaboration, a meeting was held between Professor Dr. Hesham El-Ghazaly, President of the Egyptian Cancer Society, and Professor Dr. Gamal Ameira, Vice President of the Society, with members of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Society of Surgeons. The Egyptian Society of Surgeons is one of the oldest medical societies in Egypt, established over 40 years ago, and comprises professors of surgery from various Egyptian universities and the Ministry of Health.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Tarek Ibrahim, Professor of Liver Surgery at Menoufia University and President of the Egyptian Society of Surgeons, and attended by Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Touny, President of the Egyptian Society of Surgical Oncology. The attendees discussed avenues for joint cooperation between the three societies.
The Society of Surgeons of Egypt plans to organize workshops and training programs for young general surgeons and surgical oncologists, under the auspices of the Egyptian Cancer Society. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of medical professionals and support scientific research and development.
It is worth noting that surgical oncologists have been members of the Society of Surgeons of Egypt since 1982 and have actively participated in its conferences and contributed to the Society’s scientific journal to this day.
