Dr. Gamal Omera, Vice President of the Egyptian Society of Cancer and Professor of Oncology Surgery and Undersecretary of the Medical Syndicate, indicates that one in 5 people develop cancer annually globally and that early detection greatly enhances the chances of survival.
He touched on some of the causes of cancer, including environmental and genetic, the most important of which are smoking and some infectious diseases such as B virus and C virus.
In Egypt, early detection initiatives, especially the breast cancer initiative, have helped detect about 16 or 20 million women in the first phase and reached 33 million in the second phase in detecting cases in their early stages, which increased cure rates and reduced the volume of spending on these patients.
We call on everyone for periodic screening and prevention to reduce the risk of infection
